Congratulations to all the year 1 and 2 children who completed their independent projects on ‘Food’ to such a high standard. Well done and we hope you enjoy all the yummy food in your International Food Festival this morning.
Art Club have been working hard on a range of projects during this term. They have been using a range of media such as paint, clay, felt, watercolours and have looked at different topics such as Pop Art and architecture.
The club will be exhibiting their work on March 26th at 3.30 after school. Work will be exhibited in the corridor which leads towards the ECO House.

Art Club have been doing a variety of projects. KS1 have been making birds out of clay, KS2 have been doing artwork linked to architecture and children have also been looking at creating abstract art work, including collages.
Welcome back to the new term and a Happy New Year! Art Club enjoyed a good art exhibition at the end of the Autumn Term in December. This term promises to be another exciting term with a new theme. Art Club’s new theme to be revealed very soon!
The Art Club Exhibition took place on the 8th December at 3.30 p.m. Children eargerly awaited the cutting of the ribbon so they could enter to see their work put up in the exhibition!

Recently Art Club has used clay to make shapes of their hands. The hands were decorated using patterns and painted using acrylic paints.
KS1 art club has also been using clay to design their own worlds. Children created many different types of exciting worlds!
Thanks to Mr Evans, a school parent at Charles Dickens who showed KS1 art club how to design their own worlds using clay!
Art Club will soon be having an exhibition showing their work from this term! They will start to prepare for the exhibition over the next couple of weeks.

KS1 Art club have made boomerangs out of card and decorated them with tissue paper.
KS2 Art club have been sketching images of nature using pencils and shading.
Both KS1 and KS2 have used salt dough to create shapes and objects.
This week Art Club will be using clay.

KS2 aboriginal art
Art Club has recently taken inspiration from Aboriginal art. Children carefully looked at the techniques used in aboriginal art and used these techniques to incorporate them into their own art! Children designed their own aboriginal art work using dots, lines and stripes and by adding animal outlines to their work. Children drew a sketch using pencil, then painted their designs and also used some oil pastels to add detail to their art work.

The Autumn term Art Club started a few weeks ago. Art club has discussed themes and ideas to work on for the Autumn term. The club will be working on the idea of the environment and nature this term.
Art Club has recently been learning about foreground and background in painting. We have looked at the colour wheel and learnt about blending colours. Templates of flowers and nature were cut out of black card and stuck on to create a silhouette effect.
